In late 2015, one of our clients, Newsy, launched a linear news product that complements its offering of on-demand videos.
Newsy Live is the company’s 24-hour linear news product. Currently seen on Sling TV, Cincinnati Bell and more, Newsy Live provides viewers with the latest news headlines and in-depth reporting from its three national bureaus. Newsy uses Crispin’s services to help create the 24-hour news wheel and insert SCTE 35 messages into the content to allow for both traditional and dynamic ad insertion.
The company, which has been billed as the news network for the next generation, can also be found on most prominent over-the-top platforms, including Hulu, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Apple TV. Across platforms, Newsy viewers are highly engaged; in fact, viewers watch nearly 30 minutes per session on Roku, helping the company generate over 1.3 billion video views in 2016.
In addition to its daily reporting on world and national news and live reporting from major events, Newsy has launched 10 original series in the last year. From entertainment to investigative journalism, the original series bring a new light to topics of interest to Newsy’s millennial audience.
