Following this year’s NAB Show, the broadcasting industry has been buzzing about the exciting announcements made by our parent company, Sony. If you missed the show, here’s a round-up of some of the biggest highlights from the conference:

Sony to Roll Out Cloud-Based Master Controls Operations: “Sony is also rolling out a cloud-based service for disaster recovery of master-control operations. With the unprecedented number of natural disasters occurring in the U.S. and beyond, more and more TV stations are at risk of being knocked off-air. The master-control efforts are a result of Sony’s acquisition of Crispin Automation and combine Crispin’s expertise in master-control automation with Sony’s Ci platform.” Read the full article from Sports Video Group.

Sony to Partner with NHRA on Cloud-Based and Media Workflow Solutions: “The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has reached an agreement in principle with Sony to partner on new workflows designed to distribute and preserve the organization’s 50-year library of historical assets. NHRA’s use of Sony’s Ci Media Cloud, Memnon Digitization and Ven.ue solutions makes them the first major sports organization to adopt these cloud-based tools for digital asset management.” Read the full article from Sony.

Sony Opens Digital Media Production Center: “Sony’s Digital Media Production Center (DMPC) will open in May at 2706 Media Center Drive, Los Angeles. Its core mission is to offer the content creation industry–including digital cinematography, production and broadcast–a one-stop resource for everything related to state of the art technologies and end-to-end production workflow solutions from Sony.” Read the full article from Sony.

Sony is Transforming Tomorrow for Media Professionals: “Sony’s Media Solutions Division is harnessing the power of cloud collaboration and automation to develop and bring to market customized technologies for content owners/creators, distributors and platforms. The group combines many of Sony’s technology resources designed to drive efficiencies at every stage of the media production lifecycle – from content acquisition to distribution to archive.” Read the full article from Sony.

Sony Presents New Workflow Solutions: “A combination of changing consumer viewing habits, unexampled industry consolidation and new business models has created a ‘sea change’ in the media industry, according to Katsunori Yamanouchi, president of Sony’s Professional Solutions Americas group. ‘Media customers need to deliver content anytime to any platform, in a range of different formats, and in high quality,’ Yamanouchi said. ‘Often they need to do all this with fewer resources. Sony is continually adapting to meet our customers’ changing needs, helping them develop practical workflows to help them meet their technical and financial goals.'” Read the full article from Broadcast Pro Me.
