Device Control
Solution Overview
DeviceServer and EventServer are the central components of Crispin’s automation solution that manages timing and interfaces to all broadcast devices, for play-to-air needs.
Perfect Precision
DeviceServer takes its instructions from EventServer, Crispin’s event table manager that is driven by the loaded playlists from Traffic. EventServer handles the execution of each playlist or channels. As a playlist is loaded or edits are made, the device commands are written to the event table memory maps and confirmed by EventServer. DeviceServer reads the event tables and carries out the commands to cue and play all devices in perfect synchronization, as driven by the house clock / timecode.
Dynamic Control
Crispin’s DeviceServer controls all 3rd party equipment directly via API over IP or via RS-433, through Crispin’s Moxa device. Additionally, DeviceServer controls all devices through independently developed dynamic link libraries (DLLs), therefore any changes or additions needed to update the device control hare handled independently without affecting the primary application. This approach helps protect the overall integrity of the automation system.
Redundancy
DeviceServer and EventServer can be installed as a stand-alone pair of applications, but most facilities opt to include Crispin’s AutoFailover for redundancy. This provides an automatic hot swap between a primary and secondary pair of applications. Given that these are the central operations of the entire system, this level of redundancy is the most important aspect to consider.
Devices & Equipment
Crispin has an extensive list of 3rd party devices and equipment that are supported and in use today. This list is constantly evaluated and expanded based on industry needs as well as specific customer requests. If there is a device or solution that you do not see on this list, please touch base.
